Oxford Immunotec Appoints New CFO

Richard Altieri is a veteran of the medical device financial arena.

Richard (Rick) Altieri recently was appointed chief financial officer of Oxford Immunotec Ltd. He comes from Salient Surgical Technologies, where he led the initiative to take the company public and ultimately its sale to Medtronic Inc. in July 2011. During his time at Mitek Surgical Products Inc., he played a role in its sale to Johnson & Johnson. He then became CFO at DePuy Mitek (a J&J company), Straumann USA (a dental implant company) and Tissuelink Medical, which became Salient Surgical. He has had experience as CFO at several companies, more than one of which underwent acquisitions during his time there.

In a press release announcing Altieri’s appointment, Peter Wrighton-Smith, CEO of Oxford Immunotec, said, “Rick’s leadership and background with building high growth medical technology companies will be a tremendous asset to the organization as we continue to grow rapidly.”

Oxford is a medical diagnostics company with offices in Marlborough, Mass., and England. Rick is based at the Marlborough offices. The company is focused on building tests for various diseases centered around its patented T cell measurement technology, T-Spot. Altieri will be charged with the Oxford’s financial growth in the T cell measurement market.
